His role at T.I.P. will be multifaceted; ensuring that we are originating timely and relevant investment structures, a key member of the global asset mix committee. He graduated with a Honours Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Ivey Business School at Western University.
Edward Jong - Vice President, Business Development:
Ed is currently responsible for business development at TIPWM. Most recently, a 5-star rated fund manager rated by Globe Fund, Edward started his investment career at Altamira Management Inc. in 1992, where he managed over $2.5 billion in both institutional and retail assets and was part of a team of managers who managed approximately $10 billion in total institutional and retail fixed income mandates. During that period, Edward received the API Performance Achievement Award, and the COMSTAT Performance Achievement Award for specialty mandates under his direct management.
Edward’s responsibilities and proficiencies were along the entire yield curve, across the asset class spectrum, and different global markets. Other key responsibilities included portfolio management and client relationship with institutional pension, and endowment funds. His career spans from the most conservative immunization of insurance portfolios to managing leveraged hedge funds with multiple strategies for clients who desire unconstrained mandates.
Additionally, Edward has employed equity strategies within his non-constrained mandates as a novel approach to hedging portfolio volatility, whereas most managers would simply pair long/short positions of the same asset class. Markets are dynamic, and Edward’s investment philosophy is never static; his approach would be considered to be in the forefront, never taking on undue risk.
Throughout his 25-year career beginning with Altamira Management Ltd., Edward is comfortable in exploiting all the necessary tools (such as, derivatives, hedging strategies and private investments) to achieve the goal of capital preservation and a consistent and predictable income stream. Ed holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from the University of Toronto.
